New Prince in Detroit

Just recently, MLB All-Star power hitter Prince Fielder signed with the Detroit Tigers. He signed a nine year 214 million dollar contract. Definitely worth the money if you are the Detroit Tigers. However, there are also some setbacks on this signing.
It’s amazing that a team can have two superstar batters on the same team. Teaming Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder is a powerhouse waiting to explode this season. During the regular season and the postseason, teams walked Cabrera and forced other batters on the team to beat them. But, now if you walk Cabrera, you now have to deal with Prince Fielder. Here are Prince Fielder’s stats last year:
38 homeruns/ 120 RBI’s/ walked 107 times/ batted .299/ SLG .566/ OPS of .981.
These are great stats and combined with Cabrera, you now have a double punch for your offense. Besides just freeing up Cabrera, he also helps strengthen the batting lineup and give other batters chances to score. Also he brings extra run support for their pitching rotation.
After hearing all that, how can this situation be negative in anyway? Well for starters, Cabrera and Fielder play the same position. Even though Cabrera is moving to third; he is prone to making errors. This could lead to teams trying to hit at him. Of course Cabrera could surprise and do a good job. Besides that, I think it’s been a great move.
Last season Detroit ran away with their division with a 15 game lead finishing the season on the next best team in the division. With Prince Fielder, they should be able to easily win the division and possibly the best seed in the AL. They are now a definite title contender and a huge threat to other teams in the AL. Things are looking pretty good in Detroit. .
