Deron Williams to Knicks?

The New Jersey Nets have not played well this year and are in a huge dilemma with their star point guard Deron Williams. They brought Williams in thinking that they could build another power house in the east. Williams has said all the right things but recently he has come out and said he will not re-sign unless Dwight Howard is brought to the Nets.
The issue for the Nets is that there biggest chip in the Dwight Howard sweep stakes Brook Lopez is hurt and has been out for a while. So they have to decide what they are going to once the trade deadline hits. Williams has also said that there are only a handful of teams he will resign with if traded and they are Mavericks, Lakers and Knicks. The Nets have to trade Williams if Howard is gone by the trade deadline. The Mavericks have nothing that they can trade for Williams they are hoping he becomes free agent over summer and then give him a max contract. If Dwight Howard has been traded the likely hood is that Howard was traded to the Lakers so they would not need Deron Williams. So it may come down to the Knicks and the options are either trade and get Carmelo Anthony or Amare Stoudemire.
This would help both teams and make sense for the Knicks who need a top tier point guard and the Nets need a star to help set their franchise up. The issue maybe that the Knicks may not be willing to part with Carmelo and force the Nets to either take Amare or keep Williams and let him go in free agency. One other option is they could trade him to a team that is willing to have him as a rental for the rest of the year and let him go in free agency.
The Nets really have to figure what their plan would be for the future since they are moving into a new arena in Brooklyn. Their number one priority is to get Howard and must do whatever so that they keep Williams and have the top center in the league to build the team around.
